The meaning of Jabbok
"The Place of Emptying"
Jabbok is the name of a river in the Old Testament that holds significant meaning for the Jewish people (Genesis 32). It was here at the river that Jacob, the son of Isaac, wrestled with God and lived to tell about it. The name Jabbok means, the place of emptying: for it was here that the will of one man died and a nation was born.
When Jacob came to this place of emptying, his life changed forever.
God must bring each and every one of us to the place of emptying, to the River Jabbok, before he can begin to fill us and move us forward with His will and purpose for our lives.
How it all began:
Jabbok Ministries was founded by Pam Jenkins, in obedience to God's calling in 2007. Having a God-ordained mission to reach and impact the women of the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Acts 20:24).
We are passionate to fulfill God's calling; zealous to win the lost by presenting the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ; moved with compassion to minister to the hurting and the dying; compelled to visit and remember the prisoner as though in prison with them; to reach out to the widows and the orphans; to light the path of deliverance for those in bondage to drugs, prostitution, addictions, and abuse.
Gift of influence:
Firmly believing that God has equipped women with a unique gift of influence, we know that if we reach the woman, we will reach the home; and if we reach the home, we will reach the world. We will not rest until every woman has been spiritually equipped to fulfill God's calling, has heard of God's unfailing love, and every woman knows Jesus a their personal Savior-for there is hope in none other.
We believe:
We believe in the plenary verbal inspiration of the Word of God. We believe the Godhead exists in three persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in His eternal existence as God. We believe the Holy Spirit convicts men of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals, and sets apart believers unto a holy life.
We believe that salvation is, by grace, a free gift of God apart from works. Salvation involves repentance, turning from one's own way to God's way.
We believe in the personal, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to earth, in the bodily resurrection of the just to the eternal abode in the glory of God's presence, and in the bodily resurrection of the unjust to judgement and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire.
